HD Cinema™ participates in Sony Dreams Project "Magic" 2004

Screening in NY March 15 and Los Angeles March 23

March 1, 2004--

Ad Agency Young & Rubicam and Sony Electronics Broadcast and Production have teamed up for the third year to bring HD24p awareness to the commercial production marketplace. Ten commerecial directors each created a short film on the theme of magic.The collection of shorts will be screened as a program and will be distributed on DVDs. The NY screening wil be at the Ziegfeld Theater on March 15 and the LA screening is March 23 at the DGA Theater. There will also be screenings in Canada, England, New Zealand, and Cannes.

HD Cinema and Panavision provided Sony HDW-F900 CineAlta high def 24p cameras for director Tim Godsall with Biscuit Filmworks, producer Karen O'Brien and DP Newton Thomas Sigel in Los Angeles. Godsall's short "Keep Right" has two men involved in a high stakes game of cat and mouse. According to Godsall "There are guns and cars. There are is a Scottish accent. There is existentialism and a green dumpster".

Director/Cinematographer Elma Garcia created "Real Magic" with production company MJZ; "Divine Presence" was written and directed by Erick Ifergen and shot by DP Toby Irwin. Erich Joiner with A Tool of North America Productions directed with Mark Plummer as DP on "Breakfast". David Cornell co-wrote and Directed "Revenge" through Headquarters. "Frank" was written and directed by Matthias Hoene with production company Partizan working with Lighting Cameraman David Luther. Jonathan Darby wrote and directed "The Angel of Childside Road", DP was Claudio Miranda, production services by Circle Productions in Vancouver. Dante Ariola directed "Untitled" with Cameraman Mott Hupfel. Music video director Hype Williams created a short film "Magica" with DP Eric Wykoff.

Andre Floyd, marketing manager of content creation systems at Sony BPSD said the program has been a great success for ad agencies and advertisers who are looking to learn how HD24p technology can impact commercial production. Ken Yagoda, Y&R managing partner/director of broadcast production is the Executive Producer and Creator of the "Dreams" project. Rob Willox, General Manager for the content creation unit anticipates that the Sony Dreams series will continue in 2005.

January 2005 update- "Keep Right" has screened at the Rotterdam and Edinburgh Film Festivals.
